Hitman Main Game Screen-min

Hitman General Information:

Hitman, despite what you might get from the title of the game, is only partially about hitting men. In actuality it refers to the act of being hired to kill another human being. In this case it applies to a series of films and video-games involving the character Agent 47. Is this Hitman worth hiring, or should you avoid this bald stranger? Read our review to find out…

Hitman Main Game Screen-min

Hitman comes with a total of 15 paylines over 5 reels in a 3×5 layout.

  • The minimum coins bet sits at 1
  • The maximum coins bet sits at 10
  • Minimum coin size sits a 0.01
  • Maximum coins size sits at 0.05
  • The return to player offered by this game sits at around 95.84%, which approaches the lower end of average.

Hitman comes with no standard options menu. Instead, all the options in this game relate to placing bets. While this is understandable, given the game's age, it would be nice to at least have access to an option as simple as quickspin.

Other Settings

Across the bottom of the screen runs a golden bar. This bar includes only one clickable option, the expert button. When clicked this allows the player easier ways to adjust their bet. It also gives the player access to the autoplay function.

The autoplay button allows the user to choose a variety of, you guessed it, autoplay options. The quick ones on offer are a 5x and 10x autospins. From here the player can also click on the autoplay button to further modify their options. This includes two simple sections:

  • Spin Settings

This section allows the player to manually enter the amount of spins which they wish to complete, or choose from a drop-down list.

  • Stop Settings

These settings set when the autospins will stop. There are two possible options here. First is stop when all spins have been completed. The second is when a win exceeds or equals an entered amount.

To change the sound the player can click the mute button to the upper right of the main game screen.

Hitman also comes with a help section in the form of the view payout section. This lists all of the available paylines, the symbol payouts and the different bonus structures. To gain access to this the player must click on the view payout button the lower left side of the game page.

Also on offer is the question-mark button. This works similar to the view pays button, and will bring up a list of helpful information about the game and its bonus structures when clicked.

The Hitman series originated in the year 2000 with the release of Hitman: Codename 47. The revolves around the eponymous Agent 47, a bald-headed murder-machine. Our first introduction places Agent 47 as the subject of brainwashing and tactical training, the purpose of which is to create a world class, well, hitman.

After escaping captivity, Agent 47 eventually comes into the employ of the International Contract Agency, or ICA, which designates him targets to hitman.

The following films, games and other media all tends to follow Agent 47, as he sneaks, stabs, poisons, crushes, strangles, shoots and employs thousands of other methods in order to kill his targets.

The series has enjoyed much success over the years, with this game being developed specifically to coincide with the release of the first major Hitman film, simply titled Hitman. The film itself was a success commercially, though not critically.

Other Features and Bonuses

Hitman Expanding Wild

The expanding wild symbol in this game comes in the form of the Hitman logo. This can substitute for any symbol except the scatter bonus trigger symbol. This can only appear on reels 2, 3 and 4 and expands to remaining positions on the reels they appear on to complete any possible wins. The symbol can also appear during the free spins bonus game.

Hitman Insignia

The above insignia symbol can only appear on reels 1, 2 and 3. When this does appear on all three of those reels the player then selects one of these symbols. The placed bet in that round will then be multiplied by the revealed number.

Hitman Free Spins

The scatter symbol in Hitman comes in the form of a red 18 sign. If the player manages to gain access to three or more of these on a single spin they will gain access to 18 free spins at a 2x multiplier.

Hitman Bonus

The bonus symbol in this game comes in the form of a green laptop with the word bonus written across the screen. This symbol can appear on reels 3,4 and 5. When it does appear on all three reels the contract bonus game will begin.

BONUS GAMES and features

The free spins bonus game in Hitman can be triggered when the player manages to gain access to three or more of these on a single spin. This gives 18 free spins at a 2x multiplier. Additional free spins cannot be retriggered from within this game. The amount used as a base bet is the quantity which was wagered in the round in which the bonus game was won.

The contract bonus game in Hitman is accessed when the player gains the bonus symbols on reels 3,4 and 5 on a single spin. In this game the player is required to select a single target from a new screen. Each of these targets contain different bonus values which multiply the total bet. After first selecting a target the player must then select a weapon. Following this another screen appears where another multiplier value is given. The total win for this game is the original target value multiplied by the random multiplier.

How to Play:

For the simplest possible experience the player need only choose their coins and lines and then click the spin button. To further modify their bet the player needs to click on the expert option. This opens up further customisation options and gives access to the autoplay function.

The autoplay function allows the player to select a standard 10x or 5x autospin, based on their current bet, or the player can click on the autoplay option in order to further customise their bet. This section includes how many spins are to be completed and two separate stopping scenarios.

Overall Design and Usability:

This Hitman pokie is around a decade old at this point, and you can see that in the design. The graphics used here are large and lower resolution than most of what you see today. This dated look extends to the animation of the spinning reels, which is rather unpleasant. Also in terms of animation the symbols themselves are static, without the type of flourish you see today when they come up as winners. With that out of the way – the look here isn't necessarily bad. All of the symbols and the design of the main screen itself are all very well suited to the theme, with inspiration obviously taken from the games.

When it comes to usability we also see some of the game's age. There are few options available here, though at least the graphics options aren't strictly required. As an older game this should run very well, even on older and less powerful devices, which counts as a definite win for many of us. The lack of customisation when it comes to betting is also a bit of a let-down, though its certainly not among the worst we've ever seen. At least the game itself is both fast to respond and reliable, with no problems arising at all during our tests.

Where to find it:

Microgaming is one of the most popular gambling software systems available, and is the main software used by a great many websites. If you already have a favourite gambling website then do a quick search, it might already be on offer. If it is not, or you would prefer a direct link then check out some of  the links below.

I went into this game thinking it would be a simple terrible cash-in, and I went in wrong. Despite being an older pokie, with a rather uninspired theme, the game itself holds up very well. The bonus structure on offer here is better than what most pokies manage, even those recent games by the more popular developers. This is a game we can recommend for anyone who enjoys a pokie, not just those who are fans of the Hitman franchise.
