Super Sumo General Information:

Professional athletes come in all forms. From the muscle and power of a rugby player, to the technically still an athlete designation of a chess pro, many of these players enjoy a few fun rounds of gambling. This isn't limited to the sports of the west, however, as the sportsman from the the rest of the nation will not be left behind. We've seen pokies combine a wide variety of these different sports in their game. This one, as the name Super Sumo might have suggested, involved the combination of pokies and sumo wrestlers. Does Super Sumo have the power to pull off a win, or would it be better off skipping the process in order to work some cardio? Read our review to find out…

This game obviously has a background, though its more indirect than directly inspired.

Sumo wrestling as a sport is said to have started around 2000 years ago, though there is a bit of back and forward on this. The general rules are sort of like buying a beer at a busy club – you attempt to force your opponents out of the area, in this case a ring.

One of the most obvious features of sumo is the physique of the athletes. Despite appearing as full size babies the men and women of sumo do tend to be incredibly muscular and strong, though this muscle is often hidden behind a few kgs of fat. Check out a few matches online if you have some free time, it's more entertaining and involved than many of us think.

Other Features and Bonuses

Super Sumo Wild

The wild symbol in Super Sumo comes in the form of a sumo wrestler doing either a balancing or jumping act. Sort of hard to tell from the image along. These can substitute for all symbols except for the Sumo Symbol. When two or more of these appear on a single spin respins will then start. These will continue until no new symbols appear.

  • 3 of these give a bonus of 30 when gathered
  • 4 of these give a bonus of 120 when gathered
  • 5 of these give a bonus of 500 when gathered

Super Sumo Free Spins

The free spins symbol in this game comes in the form of a red super sumo symbol. These can only appear on reels 1, 3 and 5. When 3 or more of these are gained on a single spin the free spin game will start. In this game the player is given a total of 10 free spins.

BONUS GAMES and features

The free spins game is activated when the player gains 3 or more free spins during a single spin. When activated this gives the player 10 free spins.

How to Play:

For the simplest possible experience the player need only choose their bet and click the spin button. To further modify their bet the player needs to enter the autoplay customise screen. From here they can individually change both their selected coin size and the amount of autospins to complete.

Not a lot of options here, as this is rather a simple game.

Overall Design and Usability:

In terms of design it is immediately obvious this this is a game which has been primary developed for mobile devices. All of the buttons here are large and obvious enough that they can be easy accessed through touch, rather than mouse. All of these are well suited and obvious, even for players new to the pokie game. In terms of graphics the game uses mostly a combination of blues and reds, set against a background of Japanese silhouetted countryside. While all of this works well the real star of the game is the sumo's themselves. The main four characters each take an emotion, anger, fear, sad and disgust for their design. Combine this amazing artwork with great animation and you end up with a game which is simple, but very charismatic.

When it comes to usability this is another case where the mobile influence is obvious. There are few options here, both in the game and concerning it. The only real thing the player can change is the bet quantity. This can be a major let down for those of us who put a lot of emphasis on the ability to customise both our bets and the bonus games. That said – everything here is fast and reliable, as Microgaming games usually are.

Where to find it:

Microgaming is one of the most popular gambling software systems available, and is the main software used by a great many websites. If you already have a favourite gambling website then do a quick search, it might already be on offer. If it is not, or you would prefer a direct link then check out some of  the links below.

A game that looks great and runs well, but which will probably not hold you attention too long. This is mainly because of the simplicity of the game and its bonus structures. There isn't a lot the player can do here and the theme, while wonderfully done, isn't quite enough to overcome this. Worth checking out if you are a fan of sumo, or if you are looking for a new mobile game, just don't go in expecting it to hold your attention for very long.
